This medication is used to prevent pregnancy. This medication contains 2 hormones (levonorgestrel, a progestin, and ethinyl estradiol, an estrogen). These hormones prevent pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) and changing the womb and cervical mucus to make it more difficult for an egg to meet sperm (fertilization) or attach to the wall of the womb (implantation).Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV, gonorrhea).
Oral Contraceptive. First 6 tabs: Levonorgestrel 50mcg, Ethinyl Estradiol 30mcg; Next 5 tabs Levonorgestrel 125mcg; Next 5 tabs:Levonorgestrel 125mcg, Ethinyl estradiol 30mcg. |
