Januvia is manufactured by Merck Sharpe Dohme, India.Sitagliptin is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). Controlling blood sugar helps to prevent heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, blindness, circulation problems, and sexual function problems. Sitagliptin may be used alone or with other diabetes medications taken by mouth (e.g., metformin, rosiglitazone, pioglitazone).This drug works by increasing levels of natural hormones called incretins. Incretins help to control blood sugar and increase insulin release, especially after a meal. They also decrease the amount of sugar your liver makes. |
