Lumigan Eye Drops ( Generic Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution )


Lumigan is used for: Treating increased pressure in the eye (ocular hypertension) and open-angle glaucoma. Bimatoprost ophthalmic reduces pressure in the eye by increasing the amount of fluid that drains from the eye.Bimatoprost ophthalmic is used to treat certain types of glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside theeye. Lumigan is an eye drop that combats high pressure inside the eyeball. It is prescribed for a condition called open-angle glaucoma (a gradual increase of pressure in the eye). It is typically used after other remedies have caused problems or fail to work. It lowers pressure by promoting drainage of the fluid (aqueous humor) that fills the eye.Bimatoprost (By-Matoh-prohst) is used to treat certain diseases of the eye like glaucoma which occurs in many people as they grow older. Glaucoma is caused by high pressure in your eye and can lead to pain from pressure in your eye and then can eventually harm your vision. This medicine can help you keep your sight by reducing the pressure in your eye and stopping eye pain.
Common uses -This medicine is a synthetic prostaglandin used to treat glaucoma.

Before using -INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you have eye swelling (uveitis), other eye conditions (e.g., angle closure, macular edema, inflammatory or neovascular glaucoma), or recent eye surgery or infections. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

Directions -Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. REMOVE CONTACT LENSES before using this medicine. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before inserting your lenses. TO USE THIS MEDICINE, first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back and with your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Turn the bottle upside down and allow a drop to form on the tip. Gently tap the bottle to allow the drop to fall into the pouch, look downward and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure at the corner of the eye near the nose and continue to apply gentle pressure for 1 or 2 minutes after using the medicine. Do not blink and keep your eyes closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. If you need to administer 2 drops or any other kind of eye medicine, wait 5 minutes before administering the second drop or other medicine. TO PREVENT GERMS from entering your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye. Keep the container tightly closed. STORE THIS MEDICINE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C). IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Cautions -Green/blue or blue/gray eyes may turn brown from the use of this medicine. This change may not be noticeable for months to several years after starting this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE a darkening of your eyelid in the treated eye. There may also be eyelash changes such as increased length, color, thickness, or number. All of these effects may be permanent. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE within 5 minutes of any other eye medicines. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. This medicine may cause blurred vision. Make sure your vision is clear before driving or performing any task that requires good vision. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT, contact your doctor immediately. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible side effects -SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning, stinging, dry eyes, feeling of a foreign body in the eye, weakness, or headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience a change in vision; any change in the appearance of the eyes, including redness, itching, swelling, or pain; redness on the inside of eyelid; or fever with runny nose or congestion. Bimatoprost may slowly cause permanent darkening of the eye (iris), eyelid, and eyelashes. Growth and/or thickening of the eyelashes may also occur. Contact your doctor for more details. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
